Witches of Eastwick Book Review

by Jennifer
(Warren, MI)

John Updike has written many memorable books, but this one is irresistibly witty and light and an all-around good read. I make sure to read it at least once a year.

It centers around three women who discover their witch-y powers together and use them to cope with the ups and downs of life.

An intriguing love interest also enters the picture adding excitement and depth to their lives, but also adding distraction and conflict.

The way Updike describes and deals with the characters' interpersonal affairs and inner insights is brilliant, and can be related to - even by us mere mortals.

If you have seen the movie and not read the book, you need to read this! The book is by far much more interesting and complex than the movie expresses.

If you haven't watched the movie, I highly recommend reading the book first. This book has such a wonderful flow and is written so well it is definitely a must read.
